My Ode to Billy Ray Cyrus

February 14, 2010

In reply to The Redneck Mommy: Ode to Billy Ray Cyrus.

Some of my fondest childhood memories of my mom is driving from Bellingham, WA (where we lived), to Lewistown, MT (where we vacationed) blasting BRC for 14 straight hours. We also fought over the TV Guide covers and had slumber parties in the living room while he did concert specials or appearances on tv shows.
I cannot help myself but name ABH my favorite song, and would have attended his recent Emerald Queen Casino concert in Tacoma, WA just minutes after undergoing surgery with a still swollen and bloody face, if my husband would have let me.
I recently nannied a now 5 year old girl whom is obsessed with Hannah Montana, and felt giddy whenever BRC was in the scene.
My name is Jacklyn, I’m 23, and I still absolutely love BRC.

I have not come full circle as of late, but I feel like I’ve come close. The Hubby and I have been talking a lot about what we want as far as a family, and when. No we’re not trying yet, no we’re not already expecting. I want to nip those thoughts right now. We do know when we will start and stuff like that, just not yet. It has helped out our relationship to agree upon a day when we’ll start and decided upon that for what time of year we’d like to have our kid. I know it’s a more OCD method, but that’s how I got him to agree. lol We do have our names picked out already, but we won’t be sharing those until we find out what we’d be having. Again, not any time soon.

I applied to get a 2nd job (really 4th, but since two are contract, they don’t really count) and after sitting in the 3.5 hour orientation, the HR lady told me they couldn’t actually offer the job to me because I previously worked for the company and the manager at that time decided to label my records as not able for rehire. Bullshit. So, legally they have to pay me for that time I sat there thinking I had the job, so I am going to call them tomorrow and as again for money. If worse comes to worse they’ll have to pay me out of petty cash. I have lawyer friends, but I don’t want it to come to that over <$30. It’s the principle of the thing though. I am more peeved because she knew before the orientation even started that something was wrong, yet she didn’t tip me off until after. Needless to say I do not care to work for them since they were so freaking dishonest.

Things at my regular job is going well. I actually worked today at a different location to help out since they have been backed up for like 2 months. It was a nightmare. I appreciated the hours, don’t get me wrong, but I do not feel compelled to offer to do that for a very long time. lol. I’ve been busting my hump at work though when I have been there. I have had a lot of crap going on that has made me miss a day here and there. I need to get back to not missing any days of work. I really want to show them that I’m an asset. Though when things look up and up for the making of the family, I will be mildly restricted. Oh well. I will still be able to work hard, just not lift heavy things and such. It will be nice though since I’ll be hanging Maternity clothes, and have first dibs into stuff to cover my baby bump as it grows. :) And since my dear friend hangs the baby clothes, she has been setting aside things she’d think I’d like so I can look at them. Her station is right next to mine, so that helps me peek too. :) I enjoy working there a lot, after I initially quit and got back into my groove. The only change I’d care to make from here on out would be to team up on kids clothes with my friend, but I don’t see that happening since I’m so good at hanging Women’s and Maternity. Which is nice.

We don’t have any official plans for the holidays this year, Thanksgiving and Christmas. We usually go to our friend’s house, but since I’ve started getting reacquainted with my family up north, we may end up going up there for Thanksgiving. They do Secret Santa on Christmas, and since our names haven’t been in the drawing for years, there’s no point in going this year. Thanksgiving is really the fun holiday too. We’d just have to be home somewhat early so that we can go out for our annual Black Friday shopping. If I have that day off that is. No biggie if I don’t. Hubby always finds good deals.

Oh yeah! Yesterday we went to Best Buy to buy the PreSell on our new phones! Motorola Droid’s for each of us. I am so excited. They will come in on Friday November 6th, so less than a week… Which is good as we’re already dying to get our hands on them. Excited really doesn’t cover the elation in our eyes when we think about them, nor the drool on our chins. lol! They will be our Christmas Presents to each other. :) We will have our Christmas Tree set up of course because it’s our First Christmas in our Owned Home. :) I am excited to decorate my new house. That’s for sure! As much as we hate the snow, I do hope it snows this year so that we can see our lovely house with snow on it. :) Love Love Love!

Well, for those who have read this whole mesh of thoughts, I thank you! :)

2 Weeks

October 16, 2009

(If you’ve ever seen the movie Total Recall, you probably know how I always say that in my mind: Two Weeks)

Anyway, I went to Montana to visit family and I am so glad I went. My grandpa is ill, and it was so wonderful to spend time with him and my grandma. I stayed at my mom’s house which is just across the road. They live on the same property that my grandparents own.  I left Sunday morning at 2;30am (I was going to leave later but I woke up to pee, so figured I may as well hit the road). I really cruising along for a few hours when I read a sign that I-90 was closed around Moses Lake. I panicked and called my mom. “I-90 is closed!” I said into the phone. “WHAT!?” So, I drove around in the dust storm (that closed the freeway) for a while trying to find signs for a detour and couldn’t. I turned around and  asked a State Patrol person and he explained it, but instead of right or left, he directed me north and south, well I’m not one with a sense of direction, so I turned on my GPS and ended up in bumfuck no where but eventually got back on track. The drive was beautiful. after that. The passes were clear except for the last one. I was about 40 miles from my mom’s house when a series of cars came toward us and one was a cattle truck. All of a sudden I see something flying toward my car. *thump*. I am cringing down in my seat, eyes closed, and when I open them I don’t see anything on my windshield. I imagine it may have hit the top of my car, which would have been worse, but I lifted up my visor and there it was.Chip

I had to pay to get the whole windshield replaced because it was more than a chip, and glass was coming through at me on the inside of my car.

After that incident the trip was good, it snowed the whole time and we almost got snowed in, but then it melted off pretty good. I am definitely glad I went!

Enjoy these pictures of the drive home.

Now, remember the title of this posts is called 2 weeks. I got home late Saturday night, Hubby was feeling kind of sick. He was home sick Monday and Tuesday. I went to work Tuesday, ran home changed clothes for a job interview, and while waiting for the manager to call me in, I started coughing. By the time I got home and hour later, I felt like I was hit with a head and chest cold from hell. I slept for a few hours that afternoon. By the next morning (wednesday) I felt even worse. Sneezing, coughing, pressure, by the afternoon I started throwing up. At midnight or so I woke up and came down stairs because I felt wide awake. I was able to eat some pudding and keep it down. Yesterday I was sneezing and coughing, but didn’t feel quite as run down. Today I am still weak to be up and walking around and still coughing a lot. But there you have it. My fantastic two weeks.

PS: I did get a flu shot, what good that did.

Good People

June 9, 2009

My boss’ boss was kind enough to excuse me from a mandatory meeting on Saturday to spend time with my ill grandpa. Most of you know who I am talking about because I’ve written about him before. He and my grandma will be here for a few days and Hubby and I are driving up to Bellingham to visit.

I don’t know if I can describe how thankful I am that she let me out of the meeting. I could have gone, but it would have put us in Bellingham around noon or later depending on traffic, and that would have given us only a few short hours with them, but now we get to spend the whole day.

I am very happy right now.

Faux Fathers

March 26, 2009

So, I wrote my dad an email in Ocotober and he still hasn’t responded.

I wrote him one last time to see if he’d ever buck up and respond, this was 2 days go. I still haven’t heard anything.

He told me that he is ready to start working on our relationship as long as I am… I told him I am, but he still never freakin responded.

Am I just crazy to think that a decent person would actually write back? Busy or not, no one is ever that busy.

[[**UPDATE** --- He actually wrote back, we have emailed back and forth a couple times. We're going to try to make this work. I forewarned him, that's not going to be the same as before. and he accepted my terms.**]]

Zoo Lights is a neat concept where the zoo decorates it’s grounds with christmas lights.

Hubby and I went tonight with my Mother and Father-in-law and two sisters-in-law. I had never been before, the in laws go every year.

I haven’t been to a zoo since elementary school. It was neat to see it all lit up, but I would have liked to see more animals. All that was open was the fish tanks and the meerkats. I like seeing the tigers and monkeys and stuff. Since I have never been to Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma during the day, it would be nice to go. I have only ever been to The Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle – like I mentioned before, it has been YEARS!

If a zoo or park in your area offers an event like this I do recommend it. Though you may want to go and savor the sights with people who haven’t been every year for over a decade. :)

A Very Special Christmas

I can always tell when I talk to my grandpa what kind of day he’s having… In maybe the most sad way. I can tell if he’s in a lot of pain or just hating life, if he tells me he loves me at the end of the conversation. I know he loves me, but he’s not the type of person to say it. He’s said it to me twice in my lifetime, that I can remember, both within the last two years.

My grandpa is dying. He has had numerous tumors removed from his bladder, he has had stints put into both hips and both shoulders because his blood flow is so bad. He has a slipped 5th disk in his back, but his other health issues make him too high risk for the back surgery. He has always been one of the strongest men in my life and he’s wasting away before me.

Since there weren’t any good ones of us walking down the aisle, I added these. I love the look on Grandma’s face :D

Anyway, before the tears come… On to something else.
