My Evening In
October 22, 2009
Hubby is away on business tonight. So it’s just me, the cat and the fish. Since the cat sleeps all day I’ve not seen him for several hours. He actually just waltzed downstairs to get his evening fill of food. He may come lay on the couch for a while. It is always hard to tell if he’s going to want to be a part of the family or not. Anyway. I bought some pre-cooked and frozen shrimp from the store and it was so disgusting. I should have known something wasn’t right when I opened the package and it smelled nasty. I bit one and spit it back out and decided the whole thing should just go away. I washed the taste down with some Apple-Grape Sparkling Cider. Since I had started watching Ghost while heating up said shrimp, I waited until it was over (yes I cried) to go to the store to buy Jalapeño Poppers. My original first choice for dinner. I tell you what, those poppers are absolutely fantastic.
I had to go to the Radiologist this morning for some pelvic ultrasounds of my cyst. My doctor said it shrunk a lot since last time, so she’s not going to do anything about it unless the pain gets unbearable, or other symptoms arise. Which is good, but I wish it was completely resolved. Ah, well.
I am going to go back to Matilda now. I love this movie, always have, always will. <3 It makes my family members flinch because I used to watch it 20 times a day when I was growing up, but will never be tired of it.
Projects:
October 17, 2009
I am currently working on a cross stitch gift for a friend. Once I finish that, which won’t take long at all, I am starting a cross stitch present for my mom. I doubt it will be ready by Christmas next year, but maybe. It really depends on how much down time I end up having. After mom’s project, I have 5 others that I have. Two my mother-in-law bought me, and three I recently bought just because. Needless to say, I have a lot to keep me busy for a while.
I think I am going to get back to work on the one for our friend. Only problem is that I don’t want to mark on the actual pattern so I have to find a way to mark my stitches as I go. Too bad I don’t have any Vis-A-Vis markers. Fooey.
2 Weeks
October 16, 2009
(If you’ve ever seen the movie Total Recall, you probably know how I always say that in my mind: Two Weeks)
Anyway, I went to Montana to visit family and I am so glad I went. My grandpa is ill, and it was so wonderful to spend time with him and my grandma. I stayed at my mom’s house which is just across the road. They live on the same property that my grandparents own. I left Sunday morning at 2;30am (I was going to leave later but I woke up to pee, so figured I may as well hit the road). I really cruising along for a few hours when I read a sign that I-90 was closed around Moses Lake. I panicked and called my mom. “I-90 is closed!” I said into the phone. “WHAT!?” So, I drove around in the dust storm (that closed the freeway) for a while trying to find signs for a detour and couldn’t. I turned around and asked a State Patrol person and he explained it, but instead of right or left, he directed me north and south, well I’m not one with a sense of direction, so I turned on my GPS and ended up in bumfuck no where but eventually got back on track. The drive was beautiful. after that. The passes were clear except for the last one. I was about 40 miles from my mom’s house when a series of cars came toward us and one was a cattle truck. All of a sudden I see something flying toward my car. *thump*. I am cringing down in my seat, eyes closed, and when I open them I don’t see anything on my windshield. I imagine it may have hit the top of my car, which would have been worse, but I lifted up my visor and there it was.
I had to pay to get the whole windshield replaced because it was more than a chip, and glass was coming through at me on the inside of my car.
After that incident the trip was good, it snowed the whole time and we almost got snowed in, but then it melted off pretty good. I am definitely glad I went!
Enjoy these pictures of the drive home.
Now, remember the title of this posts is called 2 weeks. I got home late Saturday night, Hubby was feeling kind of sick. He was home sick Monday and Tuesday. I went to work Tuesday, ran home changed clothes for a job interview, and while waiting for the manager to call me in, I started coughing. By the time I got home and hour later, I felt like I was hit with a head and chest cold from hell. I slept for a few hours that afternoon. By the next morning (wednesday) I felt even worse. Sneezing, coughing, pressure, by the afternoon I started throwing up. At midnight or so I woke up and came down stairs because I felt wide awake. I was able to eat some pudding and keep it down. Yesterday I was sneezing and coughing, but didn’t feel quite as run down. Today I am still weak to be up and walking around and still coughing a lot. But there you have it. My fantastic two weeks.
PS: I did get a flu shot, what good that did.
