We’re currently sitting here in the dark with a fan on to keep ‘cool’. I use that term quite loosely :) There is no telling how warm it actually is in here as our thermometer is currently buried in the depths of my office…

Without fail, we’ve been getting asked a lot after buying our house if we’re going to start trying to have kids. No, we’re not. I appreciate you asking though. We are still not ready for that step. You know that I would like to have kids sooner rather than later, but since it takes two, we’re going to wait. Our plan is to revisit the topic every so often to find when we think we’re both ready to proceed. In the mean time, I have ‘invested’ in the Mirena IUD to prevent pregnancy. That was a whole ordeal in itself. Since my parts have not gone through the ’stress and trauma’ of birth, it was a lot more painful to get the IUD ‘installed’. But that would likely gross you out, so moving right along.

We were supposed to go see Harry Potter today, but Hubby decided that it would be better to do it on Tuesday when we both have the day off, and it will be ‘less crowded’. Hokay. So now that you know I have not seen it, do not post any comments telling me how good/bad it was, and how far they did/not stray from the book. K.Thx.

It seems that as we get more and more bills since we’ve purchased our house, we are more and more happy. I know, seems strange, but remember me telling you that in buying our house we’d be saving?? That’s right, saving. Between rent/mortgage, power, water, insurance, etc etc etc, we’re saving nearly $1000 each month. Okay, so I admit, use the term saving loosely, because we’ve been buying things for the house. We went to IKEA yesterday and found a bedroom set that we really like, and a living room set we really like, now we are just going to figure out if we  want delivery/pick-up, and if we pick it up, would we drive back up to Renton or would we drive down to Portland rent a truck and save the $$ on Tax. I think it will be the last option, driving to Portland and me following in my car. Either way, it’s super exciting!

I want to save up the $$ on my own to make a trip to Montana in October to see my family. It’s doable. Yay! Just have to figure out if the Hubby will go with me, or if I will make the trip on my lonesome. It will be a beautiful drive though. Yes, I plan on driving. I’ve only ever driven part of the way, and it was through Idaho in the worst road construction of my life. I don’t believe they should have you driving from the >west I-90 to merge onto the <east I-90 overpasses. Yes, one lane going each way at 50MPH is very frightening. Not to mention I was 16 and just got my driver’s license the day before. LOL & I was driving my dad’s ex-2000 Mustange GT.

Well, I guess it is time for me to check on the hamburgers, to see if they’re defrosted yet. Hubby is playing a new Xbox 360 game we traded with a friend.

Over Worked

July 18, 2009

At work, a full crew is 14 people. Our boss has been away for a week and a half opening a new store in Seattle, and one of my peers was made Backup Lead, so she’s been in charge. We recently lost a few team members due to them quitting. Not counted in these who quit, one of our crew members retired, so we were down one person in her place. Another one of our team members quit due to medical reasons, so we were down one person in her place, making our team 11. This past Thursday and Friday we were down one person who does the shoes, so our team was 10 people. We had 55 boxes of clothing come in on Friday and 68 boxes of shoes.

55 boxes of clothing doesn’t sound like much, I know, but these boxes are 3′ x 2′ x 2′, weighing over 80 lbs each. Each one of theses boxes is stuffed with upwards of 200 articles of clothing that have to have the plastic, tissue paper, flimsy hangers, and other packaging removed. Then, each box has to be gone through for hardlines, and accessories which are  taken out and thrown on carts or below the line into plastic bins. Sorting the clothes is not hard, a monkey could do it. The departments are: Mens/Young Mens Tops, Mens/Young Mens Bottoms, Juniors Tops/Dresses/Pajama’s, Juniors Bottoms/Pajama’s, Misses Tops/Dresses, Misses Bottoms, Women’s/Maternity Tops, Women’s/Maternity Bottoms, Boys/Girls/Infant Tops, and Boys/Girls/Infant Bottoms. It is a lot of items to sort, but if you’re a good worker and pay attention, you get it down after a day.

Last week, I put in 36.5 hours a week. That is a lot of hours to be solely in the stock room. It is not very hard when it’s cashiering, because time flies, but in the stock room, man-handling boxes, and hanging hundreds of garments, is exhausting.

This past Thursday there was no truck, so my friend/co-worker and I went and played at the lake. I got sundburned of course, but it was nice to have a day off and relax in the sunshine.

Went to the Lake

July 16, 2009

I went to the lake today with a friend/co-worker. I had fun. I got a little bit of ‘needed’ sunshine.

I think I am going to go walking around the track at the local high school. Gotta go find my ipod.

Frustration

July 2, 2009

I am a huge fan of Michael Jackson, always have been, always will be. I’m frustrated about reading nothing but derogatory accounts of his life. Just let his friends, family and fans mourn in peace. People make fun of him, and talk down about him, but it’s frustrating for those of us who want to remember his legendary work.

K-thx bye.
